New Mercedes Pickup Truck Unveiled

Mercedes is known for many excellent qualities, such as style, luxury, and power, but now, it’ll be known for something else. Finally, the all-new Mercedes pickup truck has been revealed.

Who says there can’t be a luxury pickup truck? Mercedes is proving that it can be done. The brand-new X-Class concept is already turning heads and it’s not stopping there. It was revealed in all of its beauty at an art gallery in Stockholm.

When you’re in the interior of the X-Class, it’ll be more luxurious than you could ever imagine a pickup truck to be. You’ll get the same premium material that outfits the inside of every Mercedes, plus a crystal-clear screen with a backup camera and a comfy, flat-bottom steering wheel.

Don’t worry though; the X-Class isn’t lacking any of that pickup truck power! It’ll come with a turbocharged V6 diesel engine that’ll give you plenty of “vroom”. Furthermore, a live rear-axle with spring dampers is there to make your truck even more comfortable and capable when you’re driving off the beaten path.

So far, the X-Class is set to be released in South America, Europe, and Australia. Unfortunately, the United States will have to wait a little longer for this luxurious pickup. Are you excited?

Mercedes-Benz EQ Electric Sub-Brand Introduced at Paris Auto Show

Mercedes-Benz EQ, MB’s new all-electric sub-brand, was introduced in early October at the Paris Auto Show. Starting with the Generation EQ SUV coupe concept vehicle, the EQ sub-brand (a combination of “electric” and “IQ”) aims to more clearly define Mercedes-Benz’s EV identity.

The CEO of Daimler AG and Head of MB Cars, Dr. Dieter Zetsche, said EQ is ready to launch a full spectrum of electric vehicles, from “the compact to the luxury class.” The SUV segment is the fastest growing in popularity in North America, as well as the least represented in terms of EVs and hybrids, which means starting off the EQ brand with an SUV is a smart move on the German automaker’s part.

Mercedes-Benz researcher Dr. Thomas Weber said the EQ generation of vehicles will be developed based on a new architecture designed for electric vehicles and will be able to adapt to any model from any segment. Mercedes-Benz says the Generation EQ SUV has a range of up to 500 km or 310 miles, the highest range proposed in an electric vehicle yet, higher than the so far unbeaten Tesla Model S.

Described as “electro-aesthetic,” the Generation EQ SUV has an illuminated grille and blue running lights that make it look sophisticated and futuristic, plus a dashboard-spanning combined infotainment and driver information touchscreen. MB says the Generation EQ shown at the Paris Auto Show is close to what the production model will look like, so hopefully we’ll see it on the market soon.

New Mercedes-Benz Golf Car to Go on Sale Next Year

Mercedes-Benz showed off a concept for a high-tech golf cart way back in 2013, and on July 12 of 2016, nearly three years later, the concept became a reality. The Mercedes-Benz Golf Car was built in partnership with golf cart manufacturer Garia and debuted at Royal Troon’s Spectator Village.

The MB Golf Car is the future of golfing. It’s designed in every way to make a golfer’s day on the course easier, from its perfectly angled bag holders for optimum club access to its under-the-seat refrigerator.

Similar in style to a Smart for two besides the door-less sides, the Mercedes-Benz Style Edition Garia Golf Car was designed to combine golf cart and car for the best of both worlds. The car has an integrated touchscreen that gives information about the vehicle, with updates on power consumption and speed, and the game, including a layout of the course and a digital score sheet.

You can even stream music from your phone via Bluetooth. The car has a street-legal max speed of 30 mph and a range of 50 miles on one charge, so you don’t have to worry about the Golf Car running out of juice. Unfortunately, Mercedes-Benz doesn’t plan to release this incredibly cool cart until 2017, once it’s collected market feedback.

Mercedes-Benz May Sales 12.9% Higher than April

Mercedes-Benz reported yet another strong sales month, with May sales of 29,299 cars, 2,848 vans, and 420 smarts, bringing the USA total to 32,567 vehicles sold for the month.

The best performers were by far the automaker’s larger models as well as Mercedes-AMG’s high-performance cars. Taking the lead was the C-Class luxury sedan with 6,954 units sold, followed by the GLC-Class luxury crossover with 4,183 units sold, and the GLE-Class luxury SUV with 4,003 units sold. Meanwhile, high-performance models were up 34.6% from last year.

Mercedes-Benz May Sales

The automaker’s Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) models were popular as well, with sales of 11,327 units, up 1% year-to-date. These are some of our most popular vehicles at Mercedes-Benz of Buckhead.

Mercedes-Benz May sales were 12.9% higher than in April and particularly successful in China, where they increased by more than a third within five months. In Great Britain, Italy, and Spain too, sales increased around 14%.

So far this year, Mercedes has already sold 818,000 new cars, up 12.3% compared to the same period last year; and it’s only looking up from there.

“Sales continue at a steady pace in the second-quarter,” said Dietmar Exler, president and CEO of MBUSA. “Excitement is building as we look toward the coming months with the launch of three new dream cars, including the S-Class Cabriolet, SL and SLC Roadsters and the all-new E-Class Sedan.”

Muhammad Ali’s bejeweled Mercedes-Benz selling for Charity

There’s no denying that Muhammad Ali was one of the greatest boxers of our time, but did you know he also owned a bejeweled Mercedes that was as flamboyant as his personality?\

Nicknamed the “Golden Angel Wing,” Ali’s ride was a 1959 Mercedes-Benz 220S worth more than most of us make in a lifetime. It features 270 precious stones and jewels, including diamonds, and 23-karat gold flourishes on the bumpers, grill, headlamp assembly, all the knobs and switches, and even the accelerator pedal. We’ve got some luxurious cars here at Mercedes-Benz of Buckhead, but none quite like that!

As you might expect, he didn’t really drive the car. The mileage on it is not much more than 500 miles and Ali only owned it for about two years in the 1980s after it was gifted to him. However, he did say he wished for it to be used or displayed to “benefit mankind” after he passed it on.

He’s going to get his wish, as Muhammad Ali’s bejeweled Mercedes-Benz is estimated to be worth around $1.5 million and will go up for auction, with the proceeds going to fight global world hunger.

That’s a way to pay it forward in honor of a visionary this world always looked up to.

Mercedes-AMG Model Lineup to Increase After New York Auto Show

mercedes-amg

AMG will be getting some exciting new upgrades and expansions in the upcoming years. Announced at the New York International Auto Show, the chairman of AMG announced that vehicle sales rose a whopping 40%, leading the Mercedes-AMG brand to expand its lineup.

Although nothing is official yet, according to AutoNews(subscription required) the brand will get roughly 10 new nameplates, based on existing Mercedes models. AMG is known for its high-performance design, making it a world leader in street-to-track automotive design and engineering. Plus, the styling is unparalleled, with sleek curves, carbon fiber, chrome and more. Best of all, the Mercedes-AMG model lineup is notorious for rich engine sounds.

“We’re going to expand our portfolio to 48 different models by the end of the year,” said Tobias Moers, chairman of AMG. “Stand-alone AMG showrooms are getting feasible worldwide. We are going to open up one in Japan, and we’re having a discussion in Australia about that.”

Roughly a dozen dealerships in the US have a dedicated AMG showroom, which will likely see an expansion thanks to good sales. Mercedes announced this number may be expanding to over 100 in upcoming years. We can’t wait to see more AMG models on the road. What do you think of this incredible news? Tell us below!

New Mercedes E-Class Engines to Include Diesel Option

Mercedes’ OM diesel engines have seen a long reign in the company’s vehicle lineup, with the OM 651 being the most-produced engine in the brand’s history. Now, however, the OM 651 is being pushed aside in favor of a new OM diesel engine. The OM 654, as it will be called, will be offered in the new Mercedes E-Class as one powertrain option for the upcoming car.

The new OM 654 is said to be significantly lighter than its predecessor, as well as consuming significantly less fuel and releasing fewer emissions. The new diesel engine will debut in the new Mercedes E-Class E 220 d and is expected to provide an NEDC-estimated 60 mpg combined fuel rating, as well as a 25 horsepower boost over the previous engine, which cranked out 170 horsepower in comparison to the new engine’s 195 ponies. Mercedes’ goal in developing the new engine was to meet the standards for the Real Driving Emissions legislature, while providing superior performance and efficiency.

In addition to finding a home among the E Class engine lineup, the new OM 651 is also expected to be put into the A Class, V Class, and S Class models in addition to the Sprinter van. The engine was also designed to be modular and compact so that it can be easily modified to fit the legal restrictions of any of the various countries in which Mercedes vehicles are sold. So you can expect to see this incredible piece of engineering pop up in a number of places soon. Prepare yourself for Mercedes level diesel performance, the kind everyone’s been wanting.

Crosswind Assist Keeps Your Mercedes Steady

Mercedes-Benz has long been known as one of the technology leaders in the automotive market. When you get behind the wheel of a Mercedes, you know full well that you’ve got brilliant safety technology on your side.

One of the most innovative features to come out recently is the Crosswind Assist. The technology is designed to stabilize your vehicle when dangerous crosswinds are hitting your vehicle.

Crosswinds are particularly dangerous because as soon as you attempt to adjust to a gust with a slight turn of the steering wheel, the gust is gone and you have to counter correct very quickly. Mercedes took it upon themselves to rectify this. Now you don’t need to worry as much about dangerous rogue gusts.

The way the technology works is that your Mercedes will read your steering wheel input in addition to your body motion. At that point, the vehicle uses the brakes, electric power steering and active suspension in order to counterbalance the wind forces.

The Crosswind Assist is very much part of what makes the driving experience of a Mercedes so comfortable, so confident, and so relaxing. So why not stop on by Mercedes-Benz of Buckhead’s location to check it out for yourself?

Picking a New Year’s Resolution

Resolution

A New Year’s resolution is a goal you set for yourself to be completed by the end of the year. It needs to be something you can do consistently or work on year-round. That can make it difficult to pick an accomplish-able New Year’s resolution. If you’re having trouble, take a look at some suggestions from us here at Mercedes-Benz of Buckhead!

  1. Manage Your Finances. Whether you were over budget last year, have debts to pay, or just want to save more money this year, managing your finances is the way to do it. Cutting out unnecessary spending isn’t too difficult if you draw up a weekly budget that includes food, travel, and housing. Sticking to the budget, however, is a different story.
  2. Get Organized. If you’re bad at cleaning up after yourself, you may have already found your resolution! Getting organized is something you can keep up with on a day-to-day basis. Starting small, like picking clothes up off the floor, can go a long way!
  3. Learn a Language. If you’ve ever tried to learn another language, you already know it’s more difficult than it first seems. Spending half an hour each day can get the gears churning and if you stick to it, you’ll be serenading others in a new tongue before you know it!

Learning a language, organizing more and managing finances isn’t easy. Nor is any New Years resolution. Perseverance is the most important aspect at work here. The core of every goal you make is the drive to keep doing it. So always make sure to stay on point and you’ll accomplish more than you imagined by next year.

Easy Winter Car Care Tips

Winter Car Care Tips

Of all the seasons, winter can be the most damaging for your vehicle. From the dangers of ice and snow on the road to the ferocity of the cold, there are plenty of things to be wary of, especially for all you drivers planning to leave the great, warm state of Georgia this winter (though we can’t think of any good reason why you’d want to do that).

In case you run into some rough weather, we’ve compiled a quick list of winter car care tips to keep your vehicle in tip-top shape:

  • Make sure you have new, working wiper blades. Even if your car is sporting the most state-of-the-art blades, they need to be replaced about every six months, and in the middle of a snowstorm is not the time to realize this.

  • If you’ll be spending a lot of time in snowy climates, consider snow tires, especially for vehicles that don’t feature AWD or 4WD. Snow tires greatly increase your traction on slippery surfaces; just make sure the tires you’re buying are snowflake-rated. Make sure to keep in mind: for Mercedes models if the temperature drops drastically during the day your tire pressure sensor can go off. This may just be the sensor going hay-wire but feel free to contact us with any questions.

  • Here’s one of our winter car care tips that’s easy to overlook: keep an eye on your battery. Even today’s reliable batteries can be ambushed by the cold weather. Furthermore, check your fluid levels often and make sure the battery-life window displays a full charge.

Above all, just play it safe. If the roads look too dangerous, don’t go out. Make sure to stay on top of the weather forecasts for the week and travel with the utmost vigilance.

Have a safe holidays everyone!
