How to Keep Your New Year’s Resolutions

January has only just begun, which means there is still plenty of time to make a New Year’s resolution, if you haven’t already. However, making a resolution is a lot easier than actually keeping one. If you really want to succeed with your goals this year, here are a few tips on how to keep your New Year’s resolutions.

  1. Keep it simple. Instead of attempting to redo your entire life, focus on one or maybe two important goals. Choose something that will hopefully have a big impact on your overall health or happiness.
  2. Be realistic. Keep your abilities and weaknesses in mind when setting your goals. For example, if you want to lose a lot of weight, instead of focusing on the total amount, break down your goal into manageable pieces. Try to lose a pound a week, instead of focusing on wanting to lose 50 pounds this year. If you can reach your mini goal each week, you will achieve your larger goal.
  3. Expect setbacks. Nobody is perfect. There will be times throughout the year when you don’t meet your goal. If you’ve been trying to save money for a vacation, but end up having to spend that money on car repairs, don’t give up. Think about the positive habits you’ve started to develop and reevaluate your total goal.

If you follow these steps and get support from your family and friends, you will be on your way to reaching your goal by the end of 2017.

Top 5 Christmas Movies on Netflix Right Now

Pop the popcorn! Warm up some hot chocolate! Take a break from Christmas shopping and settle into the holiday spirit with one of these excellent Christmas movies on Netflix.

‘Scrooged’

Is there really any better way to tell Charles Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol” than with Bill Murray in the 1980s? Murray plays a jaded television executive who gets a reality check when the ghosts of Christmas pay him a visit. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, and you’ll want to watch it again next year.

‘Christmas with the Kranks’

If a good laugh is what you’re after, the Kranks are your people. Watch as Tim “the Toolman” Taylor—er, that is, Tim Allen—and Jamie Lee Curtis try to skip Christmas in favor of a Caribbean cruise. Leaving their traditions behind is not as easy as they expect.

‘The Ref’

Another fun and slightly less traditional Christmas movie, “The Ref” is Kevin Spacey’s holiday black comedy.

‘Love Actually’

It’s hard to believe “Love Actually” is over ten years old. This comedy-drama features an outstanding cast (including The Walking Dead’s Rick Grimes) and follows several endearing plotlines. It’s a new classic you’ll want to add to your annual viewing list. Oh, and good luck getting character Billy Mack’s song “Christmas is All Around” out of your head.

‘Fireplace For You Home’

If you want to set a mood without setting yourself up for too much distraction, why not just play Netflix’s ambient fireplace video? With a little Christmas music in the background to accompany it, this video is sure to make gift wrapping all the merrier.

Christmas Tree Decorating Ideas

With National Christmas Tree Day just behind us and the holidays right around the corner, most readers probably already have their tree. Even so, it’s never too late to add a little extra pizzazz to your decorations, or to give them a personal twist. Here are several Christmas tree decorating ideas that will give you a new spin this year and for the years to come.

Make it PersonalChristmas tree decorating ideas

If you’re reevaluating your tree’s decorations, consider what theme will mean a lot to you and your family. Perhaps you like to travel a lot, in which case you could collect ornaments that represent your favorite voyages. If you like the outdoors, opt for DIY pinecone ornaments, deer, owls, and other woodsy decorations. Find what suits you best!

Think Outside the Tree Skirt

Instead of using traditional accessories like a tree skirt, why not mix it up? You can use a vintage tin or pale as a container for a tree for a rustic spin. Or, instead of sticking with a wintery color scheme, add a little spring to your Christmas tree. Decorate with a winding wreath of silk flowers for a fresh look.

Rainbow Connection

For a new twist using what you already have, create an ombre rainbow effect by color coordinating your ornaments. Start with purple or red at the top and work your way through the spectrum. You’ll never look at your tree the same way again!

New Mercedes Pickup Truck Unveiled

Mercedes is known for many excellent qualities, such as style, luxury, and power, but now, it’ll be known for something else. Finally, the all-new Mercedes pickup truck has been revealed.

Who says there can’t be a luxury pickup truck? Mercedes is proving that it can be done. The brand-new X-Class concept is already turning heads and it’s not stopping there. It was revealed in all of its beauty at an art gallery in Stockholm.

When you’re in the interior of the X-Class, it’ll be more luxurious than you could ever imagine a pickup truck to be. You’ll get the same premium material that outfits the inside of every Mercedes, plus a crystal-clear screen with a backup camera and a comfy, flat-bottom steering wheel.

Don’t worry though; the X-Class isn’t lacking any of that pickup truck power! It’ll come with a turbocharged V6 diesel engine that’ll give you plenty of “vroom”. Furthermore, a live rear-axle with spring dampers is there to make your truck even more comfortable and capable when you’re driving off the beaten path.

So far, the X-Class is set to be released in South America, Europe, and Australia. Unfortunately, the United States will have to wait a little longer for this luxurious pickup. Are you excited?

Mercedes-Benz EQ Electric Sub-Brand Introduced at Paris Auto Show

Mercedes-Benz EQ, MB’s new all-electric sub-brand, was introduced in early October at the Paris Auto Show. Starting with the Generation EQ SUV coupe concept vehicle, the EQ sub-brand (a combination of “electric” and “IQ”) aims to more clearly define Mercedes-Benz’s EV identity.

The CEO of Daimler AG and Head of MB Cars, Dr. Dieter Zetsche, said EQ is ready to launch a full spectrum of electric vehicles, from “the compact to the luxury class.” The SUV segment is the fastest growing in popularity in North America, as well as the least represented in terms of EVs and hybrids, which means starting off the EQ brand with an SUV is a smart move on the German automaker’s part.

Mercedes-Benz researcher Dr. Thomas Weber said the EQ generation of vehicles will be developed based on a new architecture designed for electric vehicles and will be able to adapt to any model from any segment. Mercedes-Benz says the Generation EQ SUV has a range of up to 500 km or 310 miles, the highest range proposed in an electric vehicle yet, higher than the so far unbeaten Tesla Model S.

Described as “electro-aesthetic,” the Generation EQ SUV has an illuminated grille and blue running lights that make it look sophisticated and futuristic, plus a dashboard-spanning combined infotainment and driver information touchscreen. MB says the Generation EQ shown at the Paris Auto Show is close to what the production model will look like, so hopefully we’ll see it on the market soon.

Dangers of Fall Driving and How to Stay Safe

There are plenty of dangers when it comes to fall driving that you might not think about, but it’s important to anticipate these factors and know how to handle them safely. Here are some tips on navigating the dangers of fall driving conditions and situations.

dangers of fall driving

One thing you’ve probably already run into is back-to-school traffic. Staying alert, being watchful of young pedestrians, and not blocking intersections near schools are all ways to avoid collisions on congested streets. When driving behind school buses, never try to go around them, and always stop when they put their stop signs out. Leave plenty of space behind them to give children room to cross in front of you. It’s courteous and the safest way to ensure all passengers leave safely.

Falling leaves are another autumn hazard. Leaves are slick to drive on and can cover the roads, which means you often can’t see the lines or potholes. Drive slowly and give yourself plenty of extra stopping room, and follow the curb when you can to avoid going over the lines and into the next lane.

Rain, fog, and frost all cause driving problems in fall. With fog, it’s best to drive slow, keep your low-beam headlights on so others can see you, and pull over when visibility is very low. Heavy fog is usually temporary, so you probably won’t have too long to wait.

With rain, give yourself plenty of extra stopping room and be aware that the road may be slick because of sitting dust and oil. If you drive early in the morning before the weather heats up above freezing, you may come across frosted roads, especially on overpasses—be on the lookout for patches of ice and drive slowly over them.

Drive safe, and check out this guide for more fall driving hazards and tips!

The Most Iconic Mercedes Vehicles of All-Time

Mercedes-Benz has it all: style, fame, and fun. So what are some of the most iconic Mercedes vehicles from the past? Here are just a few!

Mercedes-Benz Gelandewagen (1979)

The Gelandewagen, aka the G-Wagen, was probably one of the most unusual-looking SUVs to ever be made. It not only stood out amongst other SUVs on the road, but also for Mercedes-Benz, since it was known at the time for luxury sedans and sports cars.

Mercedes-Benz 600 Pullman (1963)

The Pullman was a luxury sedan that basically looked like a limo because of its exaggerated and stretched wheelbase. It was used like one, too! Big names like Elvis Presley rode in these cars! Even though it was popular for almost two decades, only 3,000 were actually built.

Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Gull-wing Coupe (1954)

Have you ever seen a car that looks like it could fly? Well, the aptly named Gull-wing coupe looked just like that. It had doors that opened up straight out and up, making them look like wings. And it’s not just looks! This coupe was the fastest production care of its time!

So what are you waiting for? If it’s more classics then you’ll need to get behind the wheel of a Mercedes-Benz today and make your own legends!

Mercedes-Benz Creates the Vision Van

The future is here… well, at least a preview of it! Mercedes-Benz is pairing up with a tech startup company called Matternet and together they’ve created the futuristic-looking Vision Van.

The purpose of this concept car wouldn’t just be to look good (though it does look really cool) but to also deliver packages. Sure, we already have vans that deliver packages. But the Vision Van would do it a bit differently.

The roof of the Vision Van is actually a launch pad and landing pad… but not for a helicopter, for a drone! Matternet developed Matternet M2 autonomous drones that can pick up and carry a package of up to 4.4 pounds. The drones can travel across 12 miles of sky on just one battery charge! So they’ll have plenty space to roam.

This drone is smart, and even swaps out batteries on its own. It can get all of its information from the Vision Van. This will help in package delivery if the Vision Van is stuck in traffic or cannot access a particular drop-off location. Instead, they can send out their drone!

So maybe sometime soon, you’ll see a Vision Van on the road… or a delivery drone on your doorstep! Isn’t the future grand?
